2 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals for Iran in IPhO 2016

TEHRAN, Jul. 18 (MNA) – Iranian students have received two gold, one silver and two bronze medals in the 47th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO 2016) in Switzerland.

The Iranian team for the 47th round of IPhO consisted of Amir-Hossein Estiri, Mohammad Mahdi Sabbaghi Nadooshan, Seyed Mohammad Hossein Sharifi Kelahroudi, Amin Moharramipour and Amir Reza Negari.

Estiri and Sabbaghi Nadooshan each won a gold medal, while Sharifi Kelahroudi received a silver medal and the other two each claimed a bronze medal.

Teams from China, South Korea and Russia stood at the first, second and third place, respectively.

The 47th round of International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) took place from July 11 to 17, 2016 in Zurich, Switzerland. Over 90 delegations consisting of 450 secondary students participated in the event.

In IPho 2015 held in India, Iran was ranked 8th among 86 countries by claiming 2 gold and 3 silver medals.
